Well yesterday was an eye opener. We had a long day. I posted some highlights but wanted to 'get down' some other stuff. We met at the church in Ooltewah at 4:30am. We rode to Atlanta and after one dad on the trip was turned away because his passport expired within the next few weeks we all made it on the flight. I got really emotional when he couldn't come because his 14 year old son was supposed to have time with him on this trip and he came anyways. So. We got on the plane and had a decent flight. Supposedly the landing was rough but I didn't notice. According to somebody, the landing strip is the second shortest international strip. We all made it thru the airport and loaded our suitcases and bodies into 3 trucks and one van. Each of us brought 1 personal checked bag, 1 supply checked bag and 1 carry-on. After a deelish lunch at burger king, we began to make our way through the mountains. We had alot of problems with one truck and traffic was terrible. There was also a bad wreck and a check point that really slowed us down. We finally made it and at dark and checked into Hotel Victoria. My room mate is Lexie, a 20 year old student. She's awesome. Very laid back and sweet. So we go to pizza hut for dinner. Another great meal that like burger king has free wifi. We met a group of americans in the Peace Corp and I was jealous for a second. I always wanted to do that. We return to the hotel and prepare for today and everybody is ready, past ready, for bed. Well I pull the comforter back on my bed and a tiny little lizard crawls up the wall where my head will lay. I cried. Yep. Started to really hit me. So after a little freak out I tried to catch it and asked someone to help me but it had ran away. I just decided to take a shower and cried some more and finally laid down for some rest.

Day 2:
Started off bright and early. Met at 8:30 to head to El Pital. The drive there was fine until we got to a long rocky road. There are large stones that make up the road and during rainy season, now, the mud washes away from the rocks. Makes for a bumpy ride. So we get up to this tropical creekside clearing where they have begun to build a church. And this is where we spend our first day.
We spent the day blowing bubbles, playing tic tac toe, puzzles and match with the kids while others did construction and others did womens lessons. After lunch under a tree by the creek we did a noahs ark story with the kids and made beaded necklaces. Also played more games and sang songs. Then we helped finish off some of the construction and we packed back into the trucks to head back to our hotel. We got back, cleaned up and had dinner at the hotel. It was soooo good. Chicken, rice, potatoes, salad, roll and a candy:) it was Tracy's birthday so he got a "cupcake." We had a little down time and then went to bed.
