Sweet Summertime
Well our summer is off to a great start! We have been to the beach and swimming with friends. AdaReece also had her 6 month check-up, on Friday she got FOUR shots, AND a finger prick to test her iron!! She was tough but it was pitiful. At her 9 month check up she will only get one shot, thank goodness. I asked about splitting them up if it would be too hard on her system and the pediatrician said no, whatever I was comfortable with...I went with just getting it all over with, rather than being exposed to the dr. office again in a month, and she has another GI appt next month...anyways...She was 16.1 pounds and 26 inches and her pediatrician said she could start trying baby foods. We are going to the Chattanooga Market tomorrow to pick out a few veggies to steam and puree! We also gave her a taste of water from a transitional sippy cup today. She is just getting so big, I have a feeling she will be saying her first real word soon, she is babbling all day long. I am enamored with her... She smiles and squeals and has quite a personality, she's getting chunkier, and her rosy cheeks are so squeezable....

Living the high life.
If I had a penny for every person that stopped to comment on Little Miss Priss I'd be a gozillianaire. She has really stolen the hearts of men and women old and young. And she had me and her daddy whooped a lonnnnnnnng time ago. Here are se photos of the vacay so far. We have had the best time here in Gulf Shores.

AdaReece is 6 months old!
Well, I cannot believe my little teeny baby girl is already 6 months old! She is definitely gaining weight and getting so strong. At 6 months she is going to bed around 7pm. we try to do bath, bottle, bed routine. She goes down easy and she will wake up between 1-3am have 6 ounce bottle and back to sleep until about 6-7am. She HATES naps. LOATHES them. On rare occasion she will take a 1-2 hour nap. usually they are about 30-45 mins. She does great riding in the car seat. does not even mind getting strapped in. she stays awake for part of the ride but also will sleep. She LOVES attention. She loves going out in public. She is so cute and smiley everybody talks to her and she EATS IT UP. She is a big ol' ham bone. We have graduated from the swing and now she is bouncing in her bouncy seat like a kangaroo. SHE. LOVES. BOUNCING on her little tiny toes. She also likes her walker. She can go backwards on the hardwood but not forward on purpose. She is sitting up so good but will tumble over a lot. Once she gets on her belly she does this funny thing where she pushes her arms back behind her and kicks her legs, like superman or a penguin swimming. Hilarious. She's starting to gibber jabber a lot and scream/squeals. She can reach for and grab her toys and swings them around, she loves the crinkly sounding ones. She doesn't have any teeth yet and doesn't seem to be teething. We are starting to give her cereal, she smacks on it and will smile and it comes back out a little. She is just growing up too fast and cracks us up everyday.

Soul Surfer
I loved the movie Soul Surfer and a few years before that was another surfer girl/football movie called Blue Crush that I also loved...there was also the Patrick Swayze movie Point Break and it was awesome. When I think of things that I always wanted to learn, surfing is up there at the top...right beside speaking another language and playing the piano...things I know I could do if I really tried but doesn't mean I will ever do...Anyways...
Before we went to Hawaii, I wanted to surf but once we got there I had kinda decided maybe the stand up paddle boarding was more my thing. So the day we planned to enjoy a $60 umbrella and chair rental at Wakiki Beach, mom, AR and I got there early and I was getting the details from the rental guys. I asked a bazillion questions on rental prices, lessons, private vs. group etc. etc. So, Michael had been at the conference and we decided that he'd be out just in time for an 11am private lesson for just him. So, I went over to pay the surf dudes of Faith Surf School and they were like what about you? I was telling them how good Michael was at wake boarding and I was capable of getting up on a snow or wakeboard but I didn't want to do a lesson with Michael because I would hold him back and I would wait until he was done and try paddle boarding. They were like NO. You need to surf. They had a slow morning i guess because there was nobody else signed up for the group lesson, so instead of paying for 1 private lesson, we got a group lesson for each of us and it was the same price, and we were the only two in the group! My mom was watching AdaReece so we didn't have to worry about her. And Michael showed up, they shoved these smelly red billabong rash guards at us and discussed what size boards we needed amongst themselves. There was a lot of discussion about the size board Michael would need. They went a size(or ten) up i think...Our instructor was Kawika(Ka-vee-kay) he said it is the Hawaiian version of David. There was about a ten minute lesson of us on the sand and the next thing i know we are paddling out to the waves on our bellies! what seemed like an eternity later we made it out past the breaking waves. i was literally exhausted. i had NO IDEA how weak my arms were and the super wide easy boards we were on were like paddling a canoe with your hands. I mean seriously. i was worn out and I hadn't even tried to surf! Once we were out there he gave us a few more tips and then he sent Michael out. I can't remember what he did because i was about to hyperventilate. All I could think about was sharks and coral reefs breaking my limbs and being pounded into the sea floor by crushing waves... So he told me to get on my knees, get ready and when he told me to stand up. Next thing I know I'M FREAKING SURFING!!!!!!!
Not to toot my own horn but I ROCKED at surfing!! And it was SO FUN! The only part that absolutely sucked is that if you rode the wave all the way in, which was THE BEST, you then had to get all the way back out there and IT WAS SO EXHAUSTING!! I think our 'lesson' was supposed to be 2 hours and I'm certain 1 hour of that was spent catching my breath and letting waves knock me back 10 feet toward shore after I spend 10 minutes getting 5 feet out. Whatever. I loved it and was so proud of myself and so glad those guys encouraged me to go for it. So, once we finished, we turned in our stuff and plopped down under the umbrella. Later, I went to the hotel down the beach that had the photo sales booth and watched a slide show of our images. There had been a skilled surfer that surfed alongside us and taken pictures and they were selling them. During the slideshow, I didn't know how much they were but i snapped a few shots with my iPhone. After the show was over, the guy told me the disk was $80. I talked him down to $60 but still couldn't let myself pay that. So we will only have the following evidence of our glorious hour of surfing in Hawaii:

Where to begin....
Before we went to Hawaii, I had visions of blogging everyday about how awe-inspiring and gorgeous it is...well, I blogged that one time and that was it. I was too busy enjoying all the beautiful scenery, eating and keeping up with my nap-refusing bebe.
In Hawaii, she did great, only fussed when she was refusing to take a nap or she was ready for her bottle. Her eating and pooping was all on the up and up. She was(and is) a hungry hippo.
When we returned, we had a follow-up with the GI doctor and she is right on track with her weight (now 14.7lbs) and height (25inches). He was saying that she is following along her growth curve and is right on track with where she should be. I was always worried because she's around the 25th percentile in those measurements and he explained that as long as she is growing along this curve the percentile isn't really important.
It has been a struggle getting her to get some consolidated sleep, she was SO messed up from being in the hospital and being woken up around the clock, then super sleepy when we were home for 5 days then a 6 hour time change in Hawaii and was super hungry there. ***We brought 4 cans of formula thinking we would have 1 extra and we literally used every last bit of it! So she never slept thru the night while we were there and this week she has woken up around 3-4am every night. The GI doc said her body is using more calories because she is healing and a night feeding is fine. There is really no way for me to consider letting her cry it out. She may be waking up because of whatever reason and i REALLY want to sleep thru the night but every time I get up and give her a bottle and every time she sucks it right down. She is now having about 6-7 ounces of neocate at a time for a total around 30ounces a day and poops about 1 time a day. The GI doc also gave us a sample can of neocate cereal. I really can't wait to try it but I'm going to give it one more week. Until I know that the poop and everything else is on track. This week she has been so much fun and has loved hopping away in her jumpy seat.
Today we went to the Flanagan's lake house and swam with Cooper(11months), his Aunt Katie, Wynn(7months) and her Aunt Ally. I didn't get a group photo because we were all 'all hands on deck' but a snapped a few of AR:
