I am not good at uploading pics and typing(its better if I do one or the other:) but here are some more pics. In Duyusupo a girl had this t-shirt on:This was part of the circle playing pato, pato, ganso (duck, duck, goose!)

We sat in traffic from a wreck on the way to Choluteca from Tecucigalpa and this girl watched the buses and cars for a while. (she's also on the previous post).
One of the trucks broke down or overheated or something and we had to pull over, this was across the street.

Honduras Rewind

Will I ever have 'closure' from my trip to Honduras? Probably not.

As the others who went before me described: "its like you go and it breaks your heart and you leave part of your heart there" (I think that was from Becky Tedford but the Waters family also said similar things). I feel like a basket case at times today. I feel ashamed of all the material possessions and comforts I have. Michael probably thinks I'm crazy because when we came into our house last night I just started crying uncontrollably and have cried a couple of time since then. Its something you have to experience to get it. I am so blessed, it doesn't seem fair.

I had a wonderful trip in a beautiful country full of smiles and bonds that can't be duplicated. I can't wait to go back. I feel like part of me is there.

The last night of the trip we all sat around the table at our fancy hotel and talked about our experiences and it really is amazing to witness the powers of God. He is so amazing and perfect.

I wanted to add some pics from my canon camera that I took on the trip, the first is a video from our last day of going to villages. Last year, or maybe earlier this year, ChristWay took up a special offering to build a church in Duyusupo, a small village in Honduras. Here is some of the kids there singing a bible school song:

Last Day in Honduras. Travel home.

What a stressful day! We started extra early because the sun rose right on our window And the curtains were not closed all the way. Then, at 6:30 Jake brought us his charger and Lexie broke the bed side table. She didn't REALLY break it but it fell off the wall and the lamp went flying. It was hilarious. So we got all cleaned up and went down for a deelish breakfast buffet. We hung out by the pool for a while and waited til the shops opened at 9a.
We loaded up and made the stressful drive to the airport. We finally all made it there, then we all waited in the checkin line, then the tax line. Yep, had to pay $37.35 to leave. Then, we waited in the McDonalds line then the security line then the plane to board then we got patted down and finally boarded for our flight home.

I watched Date Night with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey and laughed out loud the entire movie. Then, I watched all but the last 20 minutes of Bounty Hunter with Jen Anniston. It was ok.
Once we got to Atlanta it was more lines, customs, baggage, etc. It took forever. And my phone died on the drive to ChristWay. We pulled in a little after 10. Michael and the pups met me there and brought me home.
What an amazing trip. Words can't describe.

Honduras Day 7: travel back to Tegucigalpa

Lexie and I gave away all of our breakfast food yesterday(I had been having a hi-c orange juice box and a cereal bar). So this morning I bought 3 bags of chips. It was 7 lempiras. THATS SO CHEAP!!! A lempira is about a nickel.


So we got all loaded up and had a pretty easy ride into the city. We just got checked in and here is the view from my room:


We are about to hit the city for lunch and shopping. More tonight:)
We just went to the valley of the angels to shop after stopping for lunch. We stopped in a touristy area for lunch and everybody split up. My group went to an authentic style restaurant and had this deelish bean queso and homemade chips and awesome tacos. The others went to American restaurants like popeyes and burger king. Ours was sooo good. Here is me with my coke in a glass bottle.


I was about to take a nap when some of my roomies called to say they were getting pedicures for $7. So now I'm here.


Pedicure. Check. Dinner. Check. Time for bed:) Leaving in the morning! Wow. Such a great day, see you soon. Love Dannis

Honduras Day 6: Duyusupo

Only three pics from today. From a beautiful place I could have taken thousands.


This was a beautiful tree we passed on the way there. We had to stop for a minute and I had to jump out of the van and snap this. I took more on my real camera. We drove through a bunch of mountains and some we passed were in Nicaragua.
The drive there was about two hours the roads there were much better than the drives the other days. We passed through this beautiful little town called San Fransisco. It had nicely paved roads and it was very quaint.
We pulled up to a group of Hondurans outside the church. We were expecting 15 adults and 20 children. There were only like 10 adults and 3 kids. After a few minutes there were like 40 adults and 50 children:)


This is a picture of the front of the church. Christway funded this church to be built though thirdworldchurchbuilders.org. The pastors there were extremely grateful. Check out the beautiful sky.


This last one was the inside of the church. This is where they have services and are spreading the word and teaching about being Christians.
On my camera I have many pictures of the wonderful, beautiful children. They were so sweet and cute. I had a great time and would love to go back. On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Teresa(one of our interpreters) mother's house and saw Teresa and Mardardo's baby. She was so cute.
Now we are getting ready for a deelish dinner at Wendys. Tomorrow we have to get up early and start making our trek back to Tegucigalpa. I can't wait.

Honduras Day 5: San Ramone

Tuesday, July 27. I'm 29!!!
Today there were alot of crazy noises outside early this morning. They started celebrating for me. We were ready to leave for San Ramone at 7:30 but the truck that we were supposed to ride was not. I got a birthday song and some skittles:) thanks Andrew! I still haven't opened the card I got from my mom or Michael. I'm saving them for tonight.
Finally, we got loaded up in trucks and rode up into beautiful mountains to the village. Here are some pics from the extra bumpy ride up:











Once we got there we had everybody gathered around. There were soo many of them! More than we had planned for. So we did women up on this cliff area and the kids down on this muddy flat area next to this beautiful rocky creek. It reminded me of Rock Island in Tennessee. So we taught them duck,duck, goose ( Pato, pato, gonzo) and tic tac toe and the match/ memory game and we played with a small nerf football and a soccerball (which the kept each).
We took a break for lunch and were going to eat but some people didn't want to eat in front of them and we were all pretty hot so we decided to do our noahs ark story and finish early and eat later. So we told the story and did bracelets and gave toothbrushes and candy. Here they are lined up for our goodies.





We made our trip back and passed out candy down the mountain.
At dinner, we had cake and sang happy birthday to me and Teresa. Now we are heading to the pizza hut to use wifi in the parking lot while others shop at the maxi bodega.
Tomorrow is our last day of visiting villages. This week has gone by so fast.

Honduras: Day 4 Las Chapernas

Today began getting ready to go see the loving people in Las Chapernas where Teresa's husband Medardo is the preacher. They have church outside under a tree.
Yesterday when half our group went to Mount Carmel the other half went to Las Chapernas.
Today, before lunch, we played with the little ones that didn't go to school while the women did a lesson and feet washing. Below are some pics before lunch.

















We played tic tac toe, blowed bubbles, played match and kicked ball.
After lunch, more kids came (because they were out of school) we told about Noah's Ark, acted out animal's noises, made bracelets and necklaces and gave out candy. The candy was VERY popular.
The people here were so loving and sweet. Always smiling and hugging us. I gave Kaylie my earrings because she had holes but no earrings in them. Gladis was another beautiful sweet smart girl. Here she is with her Noah's ark picture

Although the people there have very little possessions and little knowledge from little schooling there is an abundance of love and we can learn so much from them. A smile makes such a difference.
On the way back to the hotel was a bumpy ride. I will never complain about a road back home ever again.
